Kwon Soon-woo, who joined the army early this year and is currently in the rank of private first class, said, "It was fun to be at the ITF competition after a long time, and I'm happy to win the title. I have a lot of places to rely on as a group (in the military), and that helps me when I play." Kwon is scheduled to be discharged from the military in July 2026.
The ITF competition, which Kwon Soon-woo won this time, is lower than the men's professional tennis (ATP) tour and challenger.
It is the first time in nine years that Kwon Soon-woo has won a singles title at an ITF competition since 2016. Since then, he has won a singles title twice at the ATP Tour and three times at the Challenger.
Kwon Soon-woo also won the doubles final the previous day in a group with Jung Yoon-sung (National Army Sports Unit) and became a two-time winner of the competition.
Lee Eun-hye and Baek Da-yeon (NH Nonghyup Bank) won the ITF Andong International Women's Championship (total prize money of $30,000).
